Plex Inline Hockey Rules

All team jerseys must be numbered and must match.

All teams must provide their own jerseys. All uniforms must be similar color with numbers on back. Numbers cannot be taped or written on uniform.

If a player does not wear a jersey they will forfeit their stats for that game.

All statistics will be based on the number on the jersey. Do not trade or switch jerseys or your statistics will be forfeited.

  1. All Games will consist of two (2) – 23 minute running clock periods.
  2. Playoffs are played during the 10th week of the league. The playoffs are two (2) – 12 minute halves single elimination format. The finals are full games. During the playoffs, if games are tied, teams will play 3v3 plus goalies for a 5 minute running clock sudden death overtime, and if still tied a 5-man shoot-out. Penalty minutes will be issued, however teams numbers will never go below 2v2. If you receive a penalty in the last 2-minutes of overtime you will not be able to participate in the shootout. In a playoff game, if a player receives a penalty during the last part of regulation time (2 min), those penalty minutes WILL carry over into the overtime period. The team WILL be required to play a man down during overtime. Each team is allowed 1–45 second time out per game. A two-minute delay of game penalty will be issued if a time out is called not meeting these criteria.

  3. Games may start up to 10 minutes prior to your scheduled game time.

  1. The clock will begin to run at the game’s scheduled start time, your team will have until 13 minutes remaining in the first half to field the minimum number of players required to play. If your team can not do that, they will forfeit.  At that point players may be allowed to scrimmage for the remainder of their scheduled game time.  If time can be made up by the Plex, they shall do so at their discretion.

  1. Your team must have four players and one goalie on the floor at game time or your team will forfeit that game.

  1. *Full payment is due before your 1st game or your team will be issued a forfeit.

  1. The Maximum roster limit is fifteen (15), including goalies. One player must be designated as team captain with a “C” next to their name. No player may play or be rostered on more than one (1) team in the same division; except goalies.  Rosters will be frozen prior the 4th game. No additions or deletions can be made after that time. No non-roster skaters will be allowed at anytime. If a non- roster or “illegal” player is found to be playing, the team will automatically forfeit all games the illegal player participated in.

TEAM ROSTER GOALIE RULE:

All goalies must be registered with a team in the current session to sub.
All goalies must have a valid Players pass

All goalies can only sub for a team one division down from the highest division they are currently rostered in. So an" A" division goalie cannot sub for a "C" division team.

You may SUB for a team in the same division but can only be on one roster in the same division.

During playoffs you can only play with ONE team. This is the team you are rostered on.

There are no sub goalies in the playoffs.  Your goalie MUST be on your roster.

Once the rosters are frozen teams needing a goalie can only get a goalie to play for them that is on the sub list. You may not have any players walk-in the league and play for your team.

All goalies have the option to be placed on a sub list for league usage. This list can be found on www.plexsports.com

  1. All players must sign a waiver and obtain a Plex player card prior to playing in a regular season game.

  1.  Ten Goal Mercy Rule- Once a 10-goal differential is reached, the game will     automatically be over. At that point, the teams may be allowed to scrimmage, or practice on their half of the floor for the remainder of the game time running clock. If time can be made up by the PLEX, it shall do so at their discretion.

  2. Players in their respective leagues must be that age or younger on the first day of play. Adult A and B divisions have a minimum age limit of 16. High school age must be 18 or younger. U18 age teams must have an adult on the bench at all times. Birth certificates may be required upon request.

  1. The Plex reserves the right to move players and/or teams between divisions at any time in the best interest of the league.

o       If your team wins or dominates a division you will automatically be considered to move up to the higher division for the next session. This means you may not sign up for the same division without the approval of the Plex. This clause is at the discretion of the Plex management.

o       If your team can not move up because of the day the higher division plays on, you will need to address this issue with Plex management before you register with the league.

o       If a team is dominating or being dominated in a league the Plex will move teams in and out of a division with the consent of the team managers.

o       However a team cannot be moved into a division to create uneven teams throughout that division. In order for a team to move into a division another team must move out. If this balance cannot occur then adjustments will be made during playoffs to make the championship run even.

o       If a team switches divisions with another team during league play their current record does not travel with them. This means each team will take on the exiting record of the team that moved out of the division.

·        Inline Hockey’s “C2” division is a “Beginners League only”. No players playing in the “A” or “B” are allowed to play in this division. Throughout the league players are only allowed to play in a division that is one grade lower than the highest division they are currently rostered in. For example a “B” player can only play in C1 or higher. They can not play in “C2”.

  1. No refunds after deadline

  2.  There is a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for referee dispute. ONLY THE CAPTAIN of each team is allowed to questions calls or conduct for their team. The ref does not need to explain any calls to any player, captain or coach. All complaints should be address to the night manager. A continuation of disturbance toward a ref will result in suspension.

  1. Players shall only address questions about calls towards the on-rink officials.  Players shall not dispute calls with the statistician.  Doing so will result in a bench minor.

  2. All disputes against a team or player should be addressed to the night manager or referee before the drop of the puck. Otherwise it will need to be addressed to the night manager ONLY after the game is over.

USA Hockey Standards of Play

-Offensive skill should be rewarded and encouraged; defensive skill should require speed, skill, and strength without degrees of holding, hooking, slashing, or interference.

-Officials will enforce a strict penalty standard according to the guidelines that have been established.

Five guiding principles for standard of play

  1. The use of the stick will be limited to ONLY playing the puck.
  2. The stick will not be allowed to in any way impede a player’s progress.
  3. The use of the free hand or arm will not be allowed to grab or impede a player’s progress.
  4. Players who use their physical skills and/or anticipation and have a positional advantage shall not lose that advantage as a result of illegal acts by the opponent.
  5. Players will be held accountable for acts of an intimidating or dangerous nature.

The standard of play does not eliminate the following good plays from the game:

  1. Lifting an opponent’s stick
  2. Stick check on lower portion of stick

Standard of play will eliminate the following illegal actions:

-With each of these infractions a competitive advantage is gained by some means other than pure skill.

Enforcement Expectations

-Officials are expected to enforce the guidelines at all levels of play and under all circumstances throughout the game.

-Other infractions, including contact to the head, checking from behind,  crosschecking, high sticking, and roughing should also be enforced with the strictest standard.

-Players are to be held accountable for all illegal actions of an intimidating nature or those illegal acts that provide them with a competitive advantage.

Remember: Inline hockey is a non-contact game of speed and scoring, these rules will ensure that.
