Volunteer to Coach - Pass on your Knowledge

Share your LOVE of the Game:

Positive, Enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers needed to coach with The Plex and NFL Flag.

A coach should be dedicated to serving children and understand that football provides physical and emotional growth for its participants. The best interest of the child transforms into the best interests of the game.

You can do a lot of good for kids while having a lot of fun. NFL FLAG, powered by USA Football, is the NFL's official youth flag football program and the nation's largest flag football organization, played year-round by boys and girls ages 5-17 in more than 1000 leagues. It's a fast-paced game in a non-contact environment where you can teach not only the fundamentals and skills of football, but, at the same time, the perserverance, teamwork and sportsmanship that help shape the leaders of the future.

No prior coaching experience necessary - you will be given all the resources and support you need to help you succeed.

Coaching Expectations

A full discription of coaching responsiblities will be provided by the Director of Flag Football. Below are the most common expectations:

  • Coach your child's team of boys and girls, ages 4-15
  • Volunteer coaches will receive a 50% return of their child’s registration fee and reimbursement for USA football certification. These funds will be issued at the end of the season to the coach as long as they fulfill the bellow expectations.

  • Coach 1 training per week and 1 game
  • Coaches are allowed to schedule a 2nd training should they choose but it is not required
  • Teach players the fundamentals of the game. Coaches packet provide as foundation to help guide coaching development
  • Emphasis on sportsmanship, fair play, and full participation through helmet sticker reward program
  • Provide a safe and fun environment for the players
  • Learn and follow all league rules, policies, and procedures
  • Everybody Plays!!! NFL FLAG games were designed to make it easy for every player to participate in their team's success. While size and skill certainly come into play when the action starts, your coaching should emphasize the idea of "working together.”

Our policy states all players deserve “fair playing time” in games and to experience different positions. Give players the opportunity to play both sides of the game as well as the role of quarter back.

Make sure all players receive “Fair playing minutes” based on their attendance at training. Training is not mandatory but players should be encouraged to attend regularly so they are prepared for the game.

  • Puts the feelings of the players ahead of the coach’s desire to win
  • Communicate with parents as needed
